| Born in a small Moravian village in the Czech Republic 19-year-old Mirka Elektras musical journey started at the age of fourteen during her first visit to a rave. Immediately Mirka fell in love with the sound and quickly knew that somehow she would like to be involved in the scene. Having little money to pay the entrance fees she had to find away to attend the numerous rave parties all over the Czech Republic. She approached the now infamous Bassline magazine and offered her services as a freelance writer in return for free passes. Armed with a camera and a free pass the fourteen-year-old Mirka travelled alone all over the Czech Republic by bus to attend numerous parties eventually culminating in over one hundred party reviews. However, as a fourteen year old she knew that she would not be taken seriously so adopted an alias for her journalistic endeavours and in the process managed to never meet the various hard copy and online magazine owners. After a couple of years Mirka had built up an impressive knowledge of the dance scene and the DJs but unbeknown to her she trained her ears to spot good and bad DJs. After a while she began to imagine herself as a player on stage rather than writing about the performers. Without any arrogance, she felt that she could do better than some of the big name DJs she had heard who sometimes put in a lacking performance.From the age of sixteen Mirka began to research her DJ options and began working with a school friend who had a limited but functional studio setup. Her first creations by all accounts were amateur but as a determined and highly intelligent girl with a natural musical ability, Mirkas tracks became better with each new creation. A chance meeting at a rave with an internationally renowned producer proved to be a turning point. Taken under his wing suddenly Mirka had gained the knowledge that can take years to acquire and with the knowledge her productions took a massive leap forward. On completion of her first proper demo she sent only one to the Czech based label F1 recordings where she immediately impressed the label. A deal was struck and Mirkas Debut release will be available on F1 around Autumn 2006. Not forgetting Mirkas excellent DJ abilities and musical taste, Mirka has only played a limited amount of gigs in the Czech Republic and the UK but she is sure to start playing more DJ gigs as her name becomes more familiar. Her limited performances are full of energy and she loves to interact with the audience something not all Djs do. Mirka has planned to move to the UK sometime in 2006. British producers tend to be her favourite and after visiting the country, she fell in love with the culture and lifestyle. | |
