| Im a Mixed Media Artist now making my home in the desert of Arizona, with my husband of 17 years, my sixteen year old son, one intense German Shepherd, two huge Rough Collies and one fed up 'odd eyed' cat. The desert is somewhere I said I'd never live, yet, thanks to the spouse's job, here I am.....'Desert Dweller'. Me, ex-california guurrl, who thought she was gonna melt when it hit 90, now living where it got up to 118 last summer; so yeah, it's like your living on the f#*$ing sun three months out of the year, but any temperature over 90, I'm staying in till after the sun goes down anyway. But, I must say, that's only three months out of the year...other than that, I like walking out of my front door and not be bombarded by nosy neighbors and a sea of humanity. I like that the neighbors across the street are acres away, so on my 'in a funk' days, I can pretend I'm nearsighted and not have to wave, hell, most of the time I never even see the neighbors, we all keep to ourselves out here; I like looking up at the moon and feeling I can touch it if I get on my tippy toes; I like that it's really really quiet, except for when the wind blows, so it's a good thing I love wind chimes; And my dogs love barking & chasing the millions of jack rabbits and road runners, then acting all ferocious when the occasional coyote wanders down the street. Some more pros are I can go hiking with my dogs in my front yard, (cool weather only!), and throw a ball really far right in my yard-to wear their asses out! Some of the cons are the streets roll up after five, some stores are closed on Sundays, and I've got to get my art supplies online, or when I go to Vegas or Phoenix, but all in all, I'm happy staying at home working in my studio, hanging out on the computer, or lost in a good book.
