Artwork by Kris Kuksi, www.kuksi.com Les energies Art Galleria Les energies were formed out of the formal bandmembers of The Seventh Sun and The Strange Ones. Born out of the thick air and starting to evolve by each new lo-fi track recorded. Using many different instruments like a custom built scottish bagpipe, Ibanez 6 string bass and an old ukelele found nailed to the door of a deserted house...creating music and being created by music became Les energies foundation. They started to evolve through minimalism, creating their trademark, halfway in the shadow and vulnerable sounds with an even bigger impact. Travelling from The States to Europe, chemically connected with all energies that surround, they left a trail of recordings floating far behind. * "Holocaust" was written in the afternoon of september eleventh 2001. Using the sounds from the news on television that morning, the song was recorded and layered out of the ambivalent emotions running through the air, projecting solely a brief moment in time. George Bush's voice floats backwards in between the different guitar parts. "Outlines" was written for Kolonne 6 for the ReBound 3 compilation with Harco Pront on percussion, banjo and Gavia Immer on vocals. It was born as an experiment to see if Les energies could record tracks the same way they painted their canvasses. It is actually in Pront's upstair room that the name Les energies came to life. "Outlines" shows exacly what was going on within the souls of Les energies in 2005: Melancholy, beauty, impulsivity, creativity and synchronicity. The song became the standard for the way the band would record their later tracks, just opening up to the channels and letting the chemical reactions take over and letting the energies guide the progressions. "Real" was written by Harald Axel and The Strange Ones. "I followed your direction Ignorant and too blind to see I stood in your reflection Stepped right out to set myself free" This is one of the songs appearing on the new album "A Four Mile Walk Through The Undertone" out Januari 2007. On some of the songs you can actually hear female voices singing in the back that were not present during the recordings or never had been present at all. Eventually it became clear it was not resonance or feedback from the other tracks but actual singing. These chemical reactions, as we call Les energies, continue to guide the songs and as Harald Axel puts it; these are the real musicians behind the band. These tapes are preciously held on to for later editing. When re recording these songs Les energies always hold on to the guidelines of the voice and will continue to do so. "It is in the evenings of the beginning of the new millenium that i consciously crossed the energies. I would find out, each day again, how aware they are and how they want to communicate()you see, I am not talking about ghosts, you know, spirits or religious icons, but actual chemical reactions floating in and out of our own dimensions, curiously moving...transferring through each organic and anorganic cell. Hell and Heaven. Through each color, each sound, form, through you and me, all combined into one () most of the time I use direct channels to communicate with the energies...You see, in principle all we are this one big insecure child...learning from it's mistakes, growing and evolving, tortured by inner-contradictions...Walking around like a spoiled little brat, fucking up then making up the damage....being aware, evolving." ~~ "Dissolve" was written march 2006. "Dissolve, please get off my skin Revolve, wrapped around your fingers Time should be telling you Chances come by, just a few In time you will let it go And I will leave it all behind" On many other songs from the "Silver Tape" era, Les energies used a Teac real2real recording console and a Tascam 414 mk2 Portastudio. The warmth of the tape was exacly the sound that Les energies were looking for, having recorded on several digital systems at American Freakin' Froken Records, Mpls. U.S.A, the analog tape remained the canvas for their songs, recording the songs only once in the timeframe of that moment...raw, pure and deep from the insides. * Keep checking MySpace's Les energies for many more songs to be posted. © 2007 Harald Axel Heymans.
