Myspace Backgrounds I was born to write and sing music. As long as I can remember, I have been writing poetry and humming tunes that were less than familiar. The first song I can remember both lyrics and melody was written when I was twelve. Raised a preacher's kid, in middle Tennessee, I was used to being around music and singing. My mom wrote many of the songs that she would then sing in church. So, writing songs and singing them, to the glory of the Lord, seemed very natural. As a child, I was usually on stage singing solos in church, participating in choir, or singing in small choral groups. I loved listening to the songs of Dottie Rambo, The Happy Goodmans, and The Imperials. For many years those were the only albums in the house. Through the years exposure to country music, jazz, contemporary Christian and southern rock became a steady influence on my style of songwriting. Such great artists as Dolly Parton, Charlie Daniels, Michael Bolton, Carly Simon, James Taylor, The Eagles, Paul Davis, Amy Grant, Keith Green and so many others were musical influences that have helped me develop some of the gifts God has given me. After graduating from George Peabody College for Teachers of Vanderbilt University, I had the opportunity to teach in a variety of schools. Not only do I feel blessed with a talent for writing uplifting songs to God, but also blessed with the gift of loving and teaching children. Though I have lived and taught full-time in Tennessee, Florida, and Texas; my love for writing and singing has never diminished. Throughout my life I have had the opportunity to sing in many weddings, perform with a band for several years, write songs for special retreats, themed devotionals, Christmas plays, and meetings. I currently sing in the alto section of my church choir. It is a joy, and a privilege, to be a part of this ministry. I am also writing music for special events, and in response to special requests, singing in churches and concerts. But, my greatest love is the time I spend with God and writing the songs that lift His name! God has blessed throughout my life! Now, with two wonderful sons (almost completely grown), my life long dream of singing and writing full-time, is a desire of my heart that God is fulfilling. Purchase Donna Carol's album, Influences: First, and foremost, my influence is the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Music is my outlet; expressing my emotion and devotion to the Lord. The songs appear in various musical styles and movements since I love all genres of music. There have been many artists, in all genres, who have influenced the work that I write. From old time gospel to rock and roll the musical styles that I listened to through the years have caused my songs to be greatly varied and distinctly unique. Thanks to my family and loved ones for all the support!!! Sounds Like: Most think of me as an entrepreneur in the Christian Music industry since I have a very original sound and style of music.
