| One morning, upon awakening from agitated dreams, I found myself, in my bed, transformed into a monstrous vermin. I lay on my hard, armorlike back, and when lifting my head slightly, I could view my brown, vaulted belly partitioned by arching ridges, while on top of it, the blanket, about to slide off altogether, could barely hold. My many legs, wretchedly thin compared with my overall girth, danced helplessly before my eyes.
