Carangi was also the first to present unusual poses, facial expressions and gestures. Gia is credited by many at the upper echelons of fashion to have created a new style of modeling, emulated by models since then to the present.Carangi was a regular at Studio 54 and the Mudd Club. After becoming addicted to heroin, Carangi's modeling career rapidly declined. Carangi was diagnosed with AIDS, then a newly recognized disease. On November 18, 1986 at 10 a.m., 26-year-old Gia sadle died of Aids.Carangi is thought to be one of the first famous women to die of AIDS. A biographical film, Gia, debuted on HBO in 1998. I am happily married to a crazy man named James since 2000. We live deep in the woods in a farm town that borders Rhode Island. James and I have two babies... Barnie is an eight year old yellow tabby cat and Montana is a two year old Newfoundland. James has three children from his first marriage, Janis, Jill and Neil. Between the three, we have 10 Grandchildren, Jon, Joe, Lily, Emily, Victor, James Nicholas, Alisa, Kaylynn, Becca, and James Allen.
