About Me |
|
For a complete biography and more information about myself and the music I create, please visit davecahill.com . In January 2006 I began recording my most ambitious creation to date ith the help my brother Rich Cahill and Mike Tarlazzi. "The Huddled Masses is an album that contains a marriage of song genres that may seem odd grouped together normally. This album could not easily be defined as "this" kind of music or "that". I felt that with the current false political left/right paradigm of having to label yourself as a "liberal" or "conservative" was not only ridiculous, but mind boggling that someone would consider themselves in that simple of term. Human beings are diverse, eccentric, and extraordinary and this political climate it only meant to control you and your habits. Anyway, this mixture of gypsy jazz, rock, experimentation, swing and funk kept growing and growing until we had 16 new an completed songs. "The Huddled Masses" was released in July 2006 and I have to say I am very proud of it. This was a truly independent album. We had some help and guest musicians including Mike Tarlazzi on bass, Rich Cahill and drums, Mark DiFilippo on Didjeridu, Andy Waldeck vocals on "How Far", Alex Radus on "Daphne" and "The Unauthorized Biography of Django Reinhardt" and Jessi Teich on vocals for the jazz standards "Summertime" & "All of Me". The album includes all new instrumental songs musically focusing on the current events shaping our world and what we have to do to save our country and planet...People first to to realize that it doesn't matter what label you call yourself, that is meant to divide and conquer the masses and once you realize that you can think ahead and make a positive difference. "The Huddled Masses" mixes eclectic sounds with shining ability from everyone into an album that is sure to make your head explode...or better yet think.
It is now 2007 and I have been playing shows all over the tri-state area. We began recording our new album and we expect it to be released last this year. I also wrote a song called, "The Willing Doom" which will play over the opening credits of the powerful and important 9/11 documentary, "Loose Change Final Cut" which will be released in September.
