| I have always been a musician. I started out playing drums with a singing nun in Adelaide in 1974 and a couple of years later I moved on to play with Precious Memories legendary space-blues band,before hooking up with Dave Graney and Steve Miller to form The Sputniks.In 1978 .The band hightailed it to Melbourne and eventually formed The Moodists with Chris Walsh and Mick Turner,splitting to the UK in 1983 on a wing and an independent record deal and touring extensively in Europe and USA.In 1986 Dave Graney decided to go "solo" and we formed The Coral Snakes before returning to Australia around 1990.In the following 5 or 6 years we hopped a white knuckle ride in "Major Label Land" and after we stopped throwing up forged ahead undaunted to form "The Dave Graney Show","The Royal Dave Graney Show" and more recently "Dave Graney and the The Lurid Yellow Mist " I guess ,in all I have made about 20 albums and many eps. Apart from drums ,I play the Vibraphone,keyboards and sing , use Protools and Logic in order to make my own cds.The latter two being easily the most difficult to master, however,learning them enabled me to co write the soundtrack to the Tony Martin film"Bad Eggs"with David Graney which was a thoroughly tremendous experience. Im not sure how many gigs Ive done ,but I imagine would be in the vicinity of 2500 or so,therefore I am rarely having a weekend off and am unfamilliar with the concept of the holiday and this is how it should be if you call yourself a musician I believe. In the future Im hoping to organize a tour of the magnetic poles and Pondoland.
