JazzStar on the RISE! Nationally known Emcee/Host and Motivational Speaker, JazzStar is also an Actress, Dancer (Jazz, HipHop & Fusion), Plus Model, Spoken Word Artist and Voice Over Talent. Born in Greenwich Village, New York City, JazzStar started dancing and singing at the age of 5 years old. By the age of 7 JazzStar was performing for live audiences in NYC at such places as the Hudson Guild and Lincoln Center. After many years of performing, JazzStar then known as Jasmine Devi Puri, took a short break to be a “normal” teenager. Once JazzStar came back to the industry she performed in summer stock engagements such as the famous outdoor theatre production “The Smokey Mountain Passion Play”, “Showboat”, “Godspell”, “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum” and traveled through Virginia to do a children’s theatre tour of “Harriett Tubman And The Underground Railroad”. Throughout this time period JazzStar also worked in film and television in such productions as “Quick Change” with Bill Murray, and the RUN/DMC Video “Tougher Than Leather”. Within the last year JazzStar has done such productions as the Wonderful World of Disney’s seasonal television movie “Mr. Saint Nick” with Kelsey Grammer, a SAG commercial for Virgin Mobil as a Queen Latifah look a like, 2 French (MTV) music videos, a Reggaton video called Los Bandoleros with Don Omar, voice over work for several radio stations as well as an educational sales demo, and fashion runway as a plus-size model for Proline Network, Inc. George Lopez Promotions and Kimone Fashions.JazzStar’s goals are to continue in entertainment through professional motivational speaking, emceeing, modeling, praise dancing and one day having her own talk show. JazzStar is a believer in Jesus Christ and knows that she will only be able to accomplish these things through His love and looks to Him first for all she does.
