| "Everyone expected it when the bomb hit. Everyone expected it when it destroyed everything within the blast area. It was also expected that those who weren't killed by the blast would soon succumb to the fallout. What wasn't expected was those who were killed by the radiation would get back up and start walking around, eating those of us still unfortunate enough to be left alive. The ones who were blown apart by the bomb were the lucky ones, leaving the rest of us to fend off hungry hordes of the living dead. Shortly after watching most of my friends being partially devoured and then re-animating, I fled into a rural countryside to escape populated areas of infected, but not before being bitten myself. Looking to protect myself and others I would eventually harm, I broke into what I thought was an abandoned cabin deep in the woods. As I was busy fortifying the entrances, I noticed the cabin was not abandoned, and I was certainly not alone. From beyond the trapdoor that led to the fruit cellar, I could hear an unnatural groaning which could only belong to more of those things. Deciding I had little to lose, and damned as I already was, I opened the cellar door to investigate. There I found three more of the ghouls. I assume they knew I was infected, for they made no move to attack me. I knew then what I had to do...I write this now as a warning to those survivors (if any) that may happen upon this cabin and this manuscript. I am going to lock myself down there with the other ghouls...No matter what you hear down there, DO NOT GO INTO THE FRUIT CELLAR...I pray this is warning enough..." ......(Found on the floor of an abandoned cabin. No signs of life or infected could be found at the site, although the aforementioined "cellar door" was found brutally smashed open, as well as various mangled body parts, including a severed deer head and a disembodied human hand, still twitching.).....
