FRANK FISHER, MY GREAT GREAT GRAND-DAD He was born a slave and was sold and separated from his mother and other siblings at the age of 6. He was sold to the Fisher farm and his last name became Fisher. Never saw his family again. Once he became a man, he married, struggled and sacrificed and bought 141 acres of land (that we STILL own in Texas). He was the first black (or white for that matter)to have a T-model Ford car in his town. He also had his own sorghum (molasses) business. To have been a slave and as hard as times were in those days for blacks, he still achieved a great deal. That's why we as blacks are going backwards. We get 1/4 of an acre and a house and we think we have arrived. Just a little history. Ava! |
