About Me

Howdie, I'm Julian a 20 year old sound engineer from Sheffield, but i live in London. I'm currently mixing front of house for; Soweto Kinch, Jazz Jamiaca, Abram Wilson, Denys Baptiste, Andrew McCormack and Palladium........Which is ace, because they're all great bands. In the past i've worked, mixing house or monitors for: Dennis Rollins, Hugh Masakela, Emma Bunton, Artic Monkies, Wheatus, London Community Gospel Choir, Airto Morreria, Tim Garland, Raymand + Co, Ko, Ce Ce Winnans and a fair few others..........Which is also Ace! Venues wise, i've done everything from 100 seater theatres to 20,000 people in a field, glasgow community centre to glastonbury. I get a massive rush and great enjoyment from mixing really good music. I've been very fortunate so far to work with such talented artists. I'm currently studying Jazz at Trinity College of music in London and am always in persuit of the perfect mix!I currently endorse Audix microphones......check them out!

My Interests

Apart from the Engineering thing i play abit of trombone, mainly for the Hornz of Jehrico section. We've worked with LCGC, Terri walker, Noel Robinson and afew others. Also played in Dennis Rollins' 10 trombone band 'Boneyard' My favourite thing is spendin time with my mates, whilst watchin a gig

I'd like to meet:

Quincy Jones, Al Schmitt, Quincy ME, Christian McBride, Wayne Shorter, George Duke, Rudy Van Gelder, anyone with a good taste in music, an open mind and a smile. Detective Inspector Mike Sausages is a must. Oooh, a man with 3 ears...imagine that..

Music:

Is the most important thing in the world. I like all music thats good. People who inspire me: Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Earth Wind & Fire, John Coltrane, Bill Watrous, Prince, Mr Badbone Rollins, Soweto, Femi and his Rod of Correction!, Troy Miller, Stanley Clarke, Jill Scott, D'Angelo, Alex Morgan, Erykah Badu, Jack DeJohnette, Raul De Souza, Elgar, Charlie Parker, Christian McBride, Freddie Hubbard, Bill Evans, George Duke, Miguel Zenon, Ron Carter, Elvin, Nirvana, Richard Bona, George Benson, Pete Cochrane, Ben Webster, Sam Beste, Courtney,Branford,Empirecal Herbie, Chic, QUINCY JONES!, Basically anything which has a spirit and a real groove.Engineers: Sir Rudy - the master, Al Schmitt - the lving legend, Bruce the Swede - THe Studio don, Chad from the Neptunes, Schon Emmanuel - for 3 years of advice and oppourtunity, Partick Murray - for showin me how to mic a trumpet (he did it for miles), A J Carter, Steve Reece - for showin me how to deal with people, Roger Lindsay, Robin Fox, Whoever did front of house for Roy Ayres at Glastonbury last year. He was Bad!Thinking about it, i think if your music is honest, has integrity, self respect and relevance.....then its probably gonna be bad.

Movies:

Are a great way of passing time. And some of the best have been, The Italian Job, Lord of the Rings, Die Hard, Back to the Future, Robin Hood, Rambo, Rocky, Godfather (not 2), Carlito's Way, Saving Private Ryan, Shaving Ryan's Privates (ha!).

Television:

Is for the lazy. And i am very Lazy. I find that everything apart from Neigbours, The Mighty Boosh & Deal or No Deal is a bit of a let down. Oh, apart from the re-runs of Gladiators on Challenge TV.

Books:

The only book i have ever read is the Autobiography of Quincy Jones. However, apart from the bible i think it is the only book anyone needs to read!

Luckily, sound engineers know their way around many complicated consoles.

Heroes:

Jesus (Kinda takes the biscuit!) he died for us. Quincy Jones, Rudy Van Gelder, my parents, Rob Greenwood, Charlotte Celwyn, Emma Hiddleston, Bananna man. Here's the people i'm currently touring with:
