| THE MOREHEAD OLD TIME FIDDLERS CONVENTION WILL BE HELD JULY 27-28, 2007.The 2007 convention will feature contests in old-time fiddle, youth fiddle, old-time banjo, traditional string band and flat-foot dance.Tentative Schedule: ART STAMPER DAY Friday evening performers: Sarah Wood, Rich and the Poor Folks (Whitesburg, KY), Kentucky Wild Horse (Monterey, KY), Clack Mountain String Band (Morehead, KY), and the Red State Ramblers (Lexington, KY).Saturday: contests and workshops Saturday evening: George Gibson (Knott County, KY), Roan Mountain Hilltoppers (TENN.) Traditional music coincided with daily life and was regularly performed for audiences or just on a porch in the hills. MOTMAs upcoming Old Time Fiddlers Convention is one attempt at bringing together people to relate and share in our cultural music heritage. We also hold monthly square dances and other events.. Check our Schedule! The organization exists solely on donations and time offered voluntarily from its members and friends of traditional music.
