Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor - Image Hosting Kai Wakeling is a Jamaican singer and guitar player with a spiritual approach to music. For her, pure sound equals pure communication and with a passion for live instrumentation, music becomes a precious vehicle for expression, healing and inspiration.A ‘stylist’ with her own unique sound, Kai’s breathy and honest vocals are able to float over acoustic tracks as well as raw reggae rhythms. Her tone resonates ‘lover’s rock’ and has the ability to get inside you and connect. Her lyrics are simple, real and positive. Inviting the soul to rise, relax and release.A very strong background in music, Kai is the daughter of media personality John Wakeling, and Oveta Wakeling. While her Mother is an avid music collector, her Father was a popular radio show host, musician and a founding member of the world -renowned music festival Reggae Sunsplash. Fascinated from an early age with the stage, Kai watched as thousands of people swayed in unison to the music of Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Maxi Priest, Jimmy Cliff, Steel Pulse, Third World, Beres Hammond and just about every popular reggae act there is. The power of music was undeniable.Grand daughter of piano teacher Ada Wakeling, Kai was composing songs and songwriting at 8 years old however, teen years saw her focusing on school, earning a Bachelors degree in English while working as a model. She soon discovered the guitar which fast became her primary songwriting tool. The moment she plucked the first string, the energy, words and music began to flow. Collaborating with producers such as Mikey Bennet, ‘Third World’ maestro Cat Coore and the great Earl 'Chinna' Smith, she is currently working on songs for her debut album. |

on this wonderful journey |
On this wonderful journey we call life. Is it a journey though? When I am still and take time to just 'BE', I realize that everything happens exactly as it should and must. So where are we journeying... Posted by on Sun, 15 Jun 2008 11:54:00 GMT |
