About Me
NEXT GIG ....... Alex Fenton and John Hammond met studying music technology at Edinburgh University in 2003. After a couple of years writing and playing acoustic sets under our former name (The Mile), we decided that we could be more than just another guitar band - and besides, we couldn't find a drummer or bassist to contribute to the immensely creative process that had already begun. So at this point, we began a journey - a two man journey into the powerful sonic world of Flying With Penguins. Flying With Penguins are an electronic duo based in Edinburgh. Backgrounds in guitar music and a heavy dose of electronic influence results in a combination of funky breaks, weaving synths, catchy guitar hooks, powerful vocals and realtime looping creating experimental yet accessible songs, exciting when performed live. Artist influences include The Postal Service, Bonobo, New Order, The Cure, most Drum and Bass, Athlete, Mr Scruff, Imogen Heap, Hot Chip and more. Tunes you can groove to, cry to, sing along to and move to. Each is a journey. Enter a new world of sound. No-one has done this before ...
