About Me |
|
| Hello and welcome, I am the goddess that has been chosen to represent the feminine side of entire world's pantheon. My name is Kali, of Hindu mythology. My name means "the black devourer of time." The man in the towel, I'm standing on, is the god Shiva, my husband. This picture depicts my shame upon realizing that my frenzied victory dance, after slaying all the demons, was on him. He tried to stop me, but in my hysterical state, I just started dancing on his body. This is why I hang out my tongue. The head and sword I hold in my left hands symbolize the fact that everyone is mortal and so everyone must accept their death. I will kill them all. My necklace of 51 skulls represents the Varnamala, or the Garland of Letters. This represents the 51 letters of the Devanagari or Sanskrit script. Hindus believe her to be the mother of language and all mantras. My foot position symbolizes the more popular Dakshinamargi or right-handed path, as opposed to the more infamous and secretive Vamamargi or left-handed path.Don't let my appearance scare you, though. Just like all other drawings done in a cartoon style penned by human creators, I'm not real. None of us are. I'm just anthropomorphism, or the attribution of human motivation, characteristics, or behavior to inanimate objects, animals, or natural phenomena, in action. If someone said that you must fear and worship Lord Scooby or you would be tortured forever, would you tremble? Would you fear the bloody reign of the Smurfs? How about Garfield, the Desolate One? Why not? That's easy. Because it's easily accessible knowledge that these beings are entirely made up. The deities of popular mythology are not so clear -- and for good reason. There is massive money and power at stake! We goddesses are but tools of our creators. There is good reason as to why the gods have attained such power while us goddesses have remained in the dark. Is the sexism to be found in human populations not to blame? The big three religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam all feature an all powerful male deity. This is no coincidence. It goes hand in hand with the power struggle that has always existed between man and woman. It's meant to suppress the urge to rule -- an urge that would have and was greatly stimulated by the goddesses of old. For they are powerful women to look up to and emulate. The only goddess to be found in Christianity is Mary and in nearly all sects her role is stripped down to a mere vessel for holding the baby deity, a sex toy, really, for Yahweh. In the end, though, we are not needed. Women and men, if they need role models to look up to, should look to real people for inspiration. The occasional fictional character is fine, so long as their fictional nature is realized, but real dynamic humans are preferred. Real humans, having had real experiences in the real world, when having achieved success, should be held much higher than those that never set foot here. Leave us deities to the storybooks! Live your life without us! We'll be just fine.~Reverend AtheiStar www.reverendatheistar.comCreated with mySpace Profile Editor | |
