If you are ever in the backwoods on the southern fringe of Lafayette, Indiana, you may hear a sound rustling through the trees. This sound is the Hoosier Homegrown, a mix of love and obsession that’s manifested itself off the banks of the Wabash River. A little ways off of US 231, 7 men have built a shrine to their common love of Reggae, Soul, and American roots music away from the civilized world. There they hone their craft day and night mixing modern and vintage sounds of Jamaica and America while always looking back to the late 60’s for inspiration. They keep to themselves, more interested in the sound of soul than the eye of the camera, but every now and again one might catch them filling bars and clubs around the Midwest with their sound. It is told that if the Pabst is cold and the moon is full, a spell falls over all those who experience their live show making feet move and sweat drip. Catch a glimpse of this modern oddity as they emerge for the first time to wander west to California August 1st-22nd.
