The Vickers are an Rock-Pop band born in Florence in the end of 2006. Between 2006 and 2007, making their first live experiences, they have been playing many gigs, in live-music pubs and rock festivals. In January 2008 they have been chosen by David Bash for playing at the Internaional Pop Overthrow (IPO), traveling music festival, for the Liverpool’s Cavern stage, held from the 20 and the 26 May. Their songs reveal care for melody and pursuit of simpleness. They are able to make compositions, using a very simple songwriting, but very angry and hard songs as well, where the guitars and the voices remind us english and american classic backgrounds. They are fond of ranging over different musical styles, and believe in the song form like expression of different feelings that you could get in various moments of your life. And this is because they are convinced, above all, that a song is got to be ever sincere. The band, in past radio interviews, publicy announced their suicide in case they wouldn’t be able to record an album, firmly determined to take with themselves anyone obstructed ’em. Otherwise, if they would have made it, they would spread love over the world as much as possible. Currently The Vickers have signed on 3th of June 08 with Foolica Records and they will be in studio in mid September 2008 to work on their debut album. so, maybe..., LOVE will be spread all over. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------ I Vickers sono una Rock-Pop band nata a Firenze alla fine del 2006. Tra il 2006 e il 2007 fanno le prime esperienze dal vivo, suonando in varie occasioni, locali e festival. A fine gennaio 2008 sono stati scelti da David Bash per esibirsi al festival itinerante International Pop Overthrow (IPO) nelle date al Cavern di Liverpool tra il 20 e il 26 Maggio 2008. Nelle loro canzoni emerge l'attenzione per la melodia e la ricerca della semplicità. Sono canzoni fatte di un songwriting puro e semplice, passando dal pop all'acustico, fino a un rock and roll più duro dove le chitarre e le voci rimandano alla tradizione inglese e americana. Amano poter spaziare senza essere particolarmente ancorati a un genere, considerando la forma della canzone espressione di emozioni diverse tra loro. In passate interviste alla radio hanno annunciato pubblicamente il suicidio nel caso non fossero riusciti a fare un disco, fermamente intenzionati a portare con loro chiunque li avesse ostacolati. Nel caso fossero riusciti a registrarlo, invece, avrebbero diffuso più amore possibile. Recensioni: ... ricordano la leggerezza svagata e al tempo stesso pensosa di gruppi come Coral, Turin Brakes e Thrills ... Onda Rock ... un grosso plauso ai Vickers insomma, che come pochi ultimamente sono rusciti, stupiscono ... Troublezine ...Loro sono The Vickers, formazione indie rock con in testa l'idea meravigliosa di mescolare Pavement, primi Radiohead e Libertines a una scrittura fondamentalmente pop. La cosa strana che l'esperimento riesce perfettamente... Sentireascoltare ...per quanto rilassati e "laid back" i Vickers puntano sulla scrittura e sulla melodia, i "mattoni" coi quali sono costruite le canzoni che tutti noi ricordiamo... Retrophobic ...inutile dire che la band sa quello che fa e dove vuole andare... Rockambula ...ci propongono un pop rock melodico dall'attitudine indie, dimostrando grande cura per le linee melodiche vocali e per un suono levigato e semplice molto legato ai movimenti acustici nati negli ultimi anni... Artists & Bands ...Depressione radiante e delicatezza indie pop s'incontrano nelle melodie pulite dei Vickers... Komakino ...la serenità è la loro arma di forza, la brillantezza compositiva è l’indispensabile sostanza che rende i quattro brani presentati in questo Ep autoprodotto - il bellissimo "lento" Silence soprattutto - decisamente freschi e godibili... Under The Tangerine Tree ...le canzoni sono tutte buone e c’è una cura negli arrangiamenti che fa intendere che questa band conosca a fondo quello che suona... Rocklab ... questo EP può essere un interessante trampolino di lancio per l’inizio di una promettente carriera musicale ... Il Gufetto ...se ci fosse una pagella in cui valutare l' onestà e l' umiltà di una band, beh, riguardo ai Vickers, metterei a questa voce un bel dieci, e non perché li conosca direttamente, ma per l' attitudine, per il filo logico e l' equilbrio che contraddistinguono l' ep...
