Myspace Layouts at Pimp-My-Profile.com / I love my piano Linda Merrell was born in Cleveland, Ohio. As a child, she moved with her family to Los Angeles, California finishing her education in music and theater. Since an early age Linda has been deeply involved in music. At age 19 she moved to New York City and studied with Paul Curtis at the American Mime Theatre. Then in 1976, she moved to Los Angeles, married, and set her performing career aside to start a family. After raising her children in Reno, Nevada, Linda returned to her passion for the arts and in 2004 moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, where she worked with the gifted arranger, Tom Johnson. While studying in Knoxville Linda was honored to perform with the great jazz pianist, Donald Brown and sax legend Lance Owens. Then in 2005 she moved back to Reno where she created and hosted the highly popular Jazz jam sessions at 3rd Street Blue. Linda has performed with many talented local musicians including Peter Supersano, Kevin Takarz, Phil Gerome and Rocky Tatarelli, and has been a featured performer at many popular Northern Nevada Jazz venues that include EJ’s Jazz Cafe, the Hacienda, Stew’s Brewery, “The Sierra Arts Foundation” events, and other venues throughout the Reno/Carson/Lake Tahoe area. She also serves as leader in the local performing arts community as Vice President of the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) local 368. Linda’s passions are jazz, contemporary, standards and ballads, but she also performs blues, soft rock and Cabaret. She is currently working on a tribute to Rosemary Clooney. Lana (long time girl friend of my great piano player, Peter Supersano) lost her fight with cancer. It was a long 2 year struggle.
