About Me

Difficult to write anything here and sound impartial. Here goes: Studied art at college in my home town, Leeds; while I enjoyed it, I decided it wasn't for me. One of my life long dreams was to learn to fly so instead, I became a pilot; lived off pot noodles saving money and was given my wings in November 2005. I'm hoping to use it later in life as a part time instructor, but in the meantime joined the ATC to keep my ground-school up to scratch by teaching cadets. One of the other loves of my life is the piano. In working life, I'm a mechanical services design engineer (in training). Guess that's the basics.Attached below is a slideshow of some artwork of mine; I'd prefer these drawings were seen rather than gather dust on a bookshelf. If anyone's interested in commission work, I do this on demand, please just drop me a message to discuss.

My Interests

Aviation's my life-blood; first word was Concorde - I've always known I wanted to fly. I play a bit of piano here and there, would like to play in a band some day. Studied art at college and keep it alive now by doing light commission work. I'm a member of the 'Calverley Players' and 'Bingley Little Theatre' and like to take on a few am dram roles when time permits. I'm really keen on astronomy and read quite a lot of the pointlessly speculative theories about the cosmos (I know how sad that sounds but then there's nothing wrong with keeping the mind active). I try to keep fit by walking/cycling where possible and like to read quite a bit.

I'd like to meet:

1. Someone with a passion. Essential. There's more to life than shopping, b!tching and drinking.2. Someone who's prepared to wake up and get what they want, NOT just talk about it. If you haven't already, do it. Life's far too short to sit around listlessly excusing yourself.3. Someone who's successfully individual (i.e. not just wired), fun and intelligent - a good conversationalist. I wanna find out about you but you gotta wanna do the same. No-one owes you anything just because you got a pretty face. I'm not interested in attractive amoeba. If on the other hand, you're genuine, interesting and intelligent drop me a line; I'm very approachable to the right sort of person.

Music:

Music's a big part of my life; totally eclectic - I'll listen to anything once, from Eminem to Bartok but in particular, I'm a fan of jazz, big band swing and classical. My favourite piece of music is George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Beautiful.

Learning to loop

As much for the purpose of jogging my memory in future as for giving you a first hand account of aerobatic flying, I'd like, if I may, to fill you in on the thrilling events of my day.   As you...

Flying a biplane

Just recently, life seems to have taken a turn for the better, not that I ever had cause for complaint mind you. Now that our last play (Pygmalion at the Calverley Institute) has finished, I find...

Mouth

If there's one thing that really winds me up, it's gobbyness; all thats needed is an opinionated mind and an open mouth. Why it is that some people are just unable to engage their god-given ...

Music

How do I begin this?   While I remain respectful of the fact that some music today must have a certain level of talent and effort by its doubtlessly devoted artists; am I really t...

Life in the Universe

It's been a while since I posted any cosmological questions here on MySpace so I've decided to address a topic which most people are asked at some point in their lives: Are we alone in the Universe? W...

A beautiful weekend!

Hi, What a fantastic weekend! Bar yesterday and today, I'd not been flying since 8th December. That's two months of sitting at home or at the flying club drinking tea and watching the sky. It's an ago...

Mother nature's speed limit

Hi, What happens to an object as it speeds up? You might find this a little hard to believe but it's actually basic physics: the object becomes shorter in length (in the direction of motion). To expla...

And another thing...

Hi again, By now, if you're still reading these blogs then you've proved yourself to me. This one's a little easier than Quantum theory; in the last post we talked about light and how the Copenhagen I...

Here's one that'll get the grey cells working

Hi, If anyone's still reading my blogs after the last post I made, here's something I learned about today: Quantum theory. Really not too difficult to grasp, just very easy to digress and side track; ...

Space and time

Hi all, At the risk of sounding like a very sad little boy here: I find the cosmos intersting. When things get hard in life, it's great to think (in the words of someone famou...
